The Platform

United By A Common Goal

Simplification! That's what is needed across the board. It's no secret that our government is getting bigger and more complicated by the day. As such, their ability to meet the needs of the people has become insufficient over time.

We need a better vision on how to simplify all this before our government fails to meet its basic functions to us, the electorate.

About me

I was born in Brooklyn, NY and raised in a small town in central New Jersey. It's here I grew up with two incredible sisters and parents who, not only loved and cared for us, but also encouraged independence, curiosity and to speak our mind. It's only after, when I left home for college, that I began to understand why my parents emphasized these traits. It was to prepare us for the reality of life and to appreciate the things right in front of us.

In college, what was in front of me was not just a bunch of new people; but students and faculty from all around the country, sharing experiences and exchanging ideas. It's here I got engaged in not just politics, but understanding others opinions and forging my own. I ultimately ended up majoring in Political Science. In my Junior year, while working towards a minor in Finance, I applied for and accepted an internship at JPMorgan. This internship turned into a 10 year career in the financial industry.

Now days, like everyone else, I'm disgusted with the growing partisanship taking place in Washington D.C. and across the country. The kind of disfunction we are seeing is truly at epic levels.. it's no wonder our elected officials are unable to get anything done. Their refusal to cooperate with one another can no longer be tolerated. That is why I am running for office as an Independent. I want to help bridge a gap that is so desperately needed so we can get bills passed that will help our communities and our country as a whole.

The Issues

Fighting Corruption - What I am about to propose will most certainly be an unpopular opinion among our current congress members. I see it as a necessity to institute TERM LIMITS for both House and Senate. One of the main reasons we as citizens are so fed up with our current government is due to the fact that we see these elected officials legislating in not only their own interests, but the interest of the corporations they've been bought and paid for. By instituting Term Limits, elected officials will only have a LIMITED time in office. People like Nancy Pelosi and Mitch McConnell have been apart of our institution for decades, and when companies have their hooks in them (which they do) they are able to influence the legislation that these companies will benefit from. This is a problem, right?

Better Infrastructure - If you're like me, and commute everyday to work, I'm sure you've noticed the state in which our infrastructure has fallen.. a state of disrepair. The problem that is currently unfolding in front of us is an embarrassment on every level, both locally and federally. Roads are littered with pot holes; traffic has not only become a nuisance, but an everyday stress that can't be tolerated any longer.  Most importantly, public transportation has become unreliable at best. Given the size and scope of New Jersey's federal allotment of funds, you have to ask, given all our resources, why nothing changes for the better. One of my top priorities will be to not only ensure we receive the funds necessary to meet our infrastructure needs, but make sure these funds are not lining the pockets local government officials and union leaders. It's about time we get the infrastructure we need and deserve.

Tax Reform -  I've worked in finance for almost a decade and still can't believe the injustice and unnecessarily complicated nature by which we are currently taxed. This past year companies like Google, Amazon and Apple ended up paying an effective Federal Tax Rate of 0%. That is nothing;  literally zero, zilch, nada. I can't stand idly by and watch this great nation tie itself into such a corrupt and convoluted knot ... with no one attempting reign it in. As your congressman, I promise address this incredible mess of an issue by starting with simplifying the tax code and eliminating the literal thousands of loop holes that are currently on the books.

Protecting our Environment - This is near and dear to my heart. Growing up, I was fortunate enough to have a backyard where I could explore as well as appreciate nature. Behind our house was a stream that many of the local animals used for water and as a home. Today, our government is rolling back regulations that are not only making our water polluted, but are turning federally protected lands into Oil fields. I fear that places like my childhood backyard are being fundamentally threatened and are slowly being eroded to the detriment of our local plants and animals.  This is why, in my campaign, I promise to work to help protect our environment and work towards a better future for our planet as a whole.

Immigration Reform- This is an issue that effects all of us, whether it be directly or indirectly. For me, it hits close to home.

The majority of my family are immigrants from England and Argentina. There are family members of mine that have had to wait up to NINE YEARS just to get a Green Card. Our current process is clearly broken due to a mixture of inaction by our congress, and an unwillingness by the executive branch to touch such a thorny issue.  Currently there is no one offering a comprehensive and simplified plan to reconcile this critical issue. My plan is to create an outline by which our current congress can come together and agree on common sense approach to tackling this divisive and crucial issue.

Fighting for Woman's Rights - I come from a family of strong and amazing woman; my mother, sisters, aunts and grandmothers.

The fact that we as a society still has to fight for equality for 50% of the population in the 21st century is an embarrassment.

Woman in today's workforce deserve equal pay.. no excuses. I am pro choice and believe that fighting for these core rights is of the utmost importance. If we expect to progress as a society, how can we still be grappling with equality on a scale as large as this?
